Lafayette Arrives by Boat at Fort McHenry, Baltimore, MD

FreeEnjoy free access* to Fort McHenry’s public grounds to participate in a historic reenactment event. Arrive by 1:30 PM to be part of the parade route when today’s Lafayette and entourage step off the boat at Ft. McHenry’s wharf on the exact date of his 1824 arrival. Follow the entourage from the wharf, led by the US Army Old Guard Fife & Drum Corps, to take an open seat near the historic tent area on the Fort’s grounds. Hear the very music Lafayette heard performed by a regional military band and local singers. Witness Lafayette’s emotional embrace by his Revolutionary War comrades and Maryland officials exiting from Washington’s historic dining tent. After commemorative remarks from gathered French, American, and Maryland dignitaries, attendees with tickets can watch the lowering of the Star-Spangled Banner inside the Star Fort. And, don’t miss the opportunity for memorable photos of the flag flying over the fort and photos with the historic re-enactors.
