Lafayette Traveling Exhibit
Pellitier Library
Allegheny College
April 14 to May 2, 2025
On June 2, 1825, Lafayette spoke on the steps of the partially completed Bentley Hall at Allegheny College, Meadville PA, where he reminisced about his friend George Washington who took the same route from Pittsburgh to Fort LeBoeuf in 1753. Then the young Washington was sent to Fort LeBoeuf to ask the French to leave the Ohio Country. It’s likely his mentor discussed this with him on many cold evenings at Valley Forge.
Allegheny College will remember this event by having the Lafayette Traveling Exhibit on display at their
