Fifty years after the American Revolution, the United States invited the Marquis de Lafayette to return and admire the success of their Great Experiment. On August 31, 1824, his tour brought him to Salem’s Hamilton Hall.

On August 31, 2024, join the Commonwealth Vintage Dancers for a recreation of an 1824 ball to mark the 200^th anniversary of this occasion. Learn historically accurate dancing, enjoy marvelous period music played live, and indulge in delicious refreshments in a glittering ballroom. Sip sparkling cider as we raise a toast to the return of the Marquis de Lafayette and to the memory of Alexander Hamilton.

To create the most immersive environment, all participants are required to wear high-quality costumes from the period of 1800-1825. All dances will be taught and highly participatory. Prepare yourself to be part of the magic of this event.
