On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of his farewell tour, three events are organized in Tallahassee to celebrate the “Hero of Two Worlds”.
For three days, from Feb. 21 ot Feb. 23, 2025, let us celebrate the legacy of the Marquis de Lafayette (1757-1834).
- Lafayette Township Marker Rededication
February 21, 3:30pm
Lafayette Park, N. Gasden St. @ E. 5th Ave.
Abiaka Chapter, Natina Society Daughters of the American Revolution will unveil this restored historical marker. Partners include the City of Tallahassee, Lafayette Park Neighborhood Association, Ponce de Leon Society, Children of the American Revolution, Leon High Schol French National Honor Society and the Army ROTC FAMU Rattler Battalion.
- Lafayette Symposium : Why Lafayette Still Matters

St John Episcopal Church, 211 N. Monroe St.
Symposium of distinguished scholars including :
Dr Olga Anna Duhl, Oliver E. Williams Professor of French, Lafayette College
Dr Lloyd Kramer, History Professor Emeritus, University of North Carolina
Chuck Schwam, Executive Director of the American Friends of Lafayette
Moderated by Dr. Rafe Blaufarb, Department of History, FSU
Partners include the American Friends of Lafayette, Institute on Napoleon and the French Revolution, Alliance Française of Tallahassee, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Winthrop-King Insitute and the Tallahassee Historical Society.
