Speaker Luncheon with Prof. Richard Bell & MCHC Lafayette Farewell Tour Artifact Exhibit

At the conclusion of the guided footstep tour by bus, the American Friends of Lafayette will host a ticketed speaker luncheon at the MCHC, closed to the public that date. Enjoy a catered gourmet box lunch and hear noted University of Maryland historian Dr. Richard Bell, author of “Stolen: Five Free Boys Kidnapped into Slavery and Their Astonishing Odyssey Home”. Professor Bell’s lecture will focus on the progressive social views Lafayette dearly held and be followed by a Q&A session. Before and after Professor Bell’s lecture, peruse American Friends of Lafayette traveling panels on display in the MCHC entrance area to learn the essential story of Lafayette’s life and legacy. And, explore a special curated exhibit of souvenirs and artifacts from Lafayette’s 1824 – 1825 Farewell Tour that are part of MCHC’s archived collection. The creation of a “souvenir market” was one of the lasting influences of Lafayette’s 13-month Farewell Tour!
