On July 29, 1825, Lafayette stopped in Port Deposit on his way to Baltimore. He met with a delegation who would escort him to Baltimore by boat. Local histories suggest that he was entertained at the Gerry House and that citizens lined up to meet the Marquis and welcome him to their town. The Town of Port Deposit will re-create this historic stop, and citizens will once again line up to greet Lafayette.
