6:00 PM – Begin Boarding for Georgia Queen Paddleboat ($100)
7:00 PM – Georgia Queen Paddleboat Dinner Cruise

Savannah’s esteemed dignitaries will extend official greetings and present a proclamation in his honor. The Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) Color Guard and militia will proudly present colors, and a dramatic musket volley will be fired to mark this historic occasion. If conditions allow, a special flyover by the Georgia State Patrol may add a stirring tribute to the occasion. There is no cost to be a part of this commemorative ceremony!
At 6:00 PM, guests will begin boarding the elegant Georgia Queen paddleboat for a majestic dinner cruise which leaves port at 7:00 PM cruising along the scenic Savannah River ($100 per person). Indulge in a feast fit for royalty, with signature Savannah Shrimp and Grits, a mouthwatering Beef Carving Station, Fresh Catch of the Day, zesty Lemon & Artichoke Chicken, seasonal fresh vegetables, crisp garden greens with dressings and toppings, and much more—a culinary experience as rich and unforgettable as Lafayette’s legacy.
SATURDAY, March 22
9:00 AM – Johnson Square (east of Julian St.) (no-charge)
Location: east of Juliann St.
Step back in time as General Lafayette makes his grand arrival by horse-drawn carriage at Johnson Square, just as he did two centuries ago. The Georgia SAR Color Guard and militia will once again present colors, and engage in a musket firing, setting the stage for a formal welcome by Savannah’s civic leaders.
One of the most poignant moments of the event will be Lafayette’s personal recognition of James Armistead Lafayette, the formerly enslaved man who risked his life as a double agent for the Patriot cause. This powerful reenactment highlights Lafayette’s enduring dedication to the ideals of liberty and equality.
As history comes to life, the spirits of Major General Nathanael Greene and Brigadier General Casimir Pulaski—two legendary heroes of the American Revolution—will make their spectral presence known. Witness Lafayette’s reenactment of the cornerstone-laying ceremony for their grave monuments, a solemn act of remembrance he originally conducted in 1825. The event will conclude with the dedication of a Lafayette Historical Marker, ensuring that this legacy endures for future generations.
10:30 AM – Reception at the Harper-Fowlkes House ($10)
Location: 230 Barnard St.
Admission: $10 (Limited seating—reserve early!)
Continue the celebration with a charming morning reception in the elegant surroundings of the brick courtyard of the Harper-Fowlkes House, one of Savannah’s finest historic homes and museums. From its stately front porch, Lafayette will address the troops and public before guests enjoy light hors d’oeuvres and live chamber music in the courtyard, evoking the refined salons of the 19th century.
Mingle with General Lafayette, General Greene, and General Pulaski reenactors as they greet guests and share insights into their Revolutionary War experiences. Witness a stirring round of historic toasts, delivered by reenactors and Savannah dignitaries, just as they would have been in Lafayette’s time.
In the event of rain, access to the museum’s interior will not be permitted; therefore, bringing an umbrella is advisable.
