Bicentennial of Lafayette’s Farewell Tour Visits West Boylston, MA

*Come help us make and re-create history as the American Friends of Lafayette and the citizens of West Boylston, honor Lafayette as we re-create his 1824 stop in West Boylston on his triumphant way into Worcester. 

*Gathering place: Tuesday AM, Sept 3, W.Boylston Town Common at Main Flag Pole – GPS address and suggested parking at Congregational Church Parking lot, 26 Central St. West Boylston, Mass 01583

Time:10:45 – 11:30 expected arrival and duration of the visit 

* Overview of activities:

Greetings and salutations from current local Historical Society members and town officials. Followed by brief presentations and speeches from esteemed “1824 West Boylston Dignitaries such as Robert Thomas, Ezra Beaman Jr, and local Militia” (Note: In colonial garb)

* Brief Milita parade on the Common followed by ceremonial musket volleys as a send-off to the esteemed Major General as he departs for Worcester.

* Open invitation to all in attendance to visit and learn more about West Boylston town history at the 1770s era Bigelow Tavern, Historic Society Headquarters, located across the street from the Common at 65 Worcester Street, West Boylston, Mass 01583
