Bicentennial of Lafayette’s Farewell Tour Visits Williamsburg, VA

Visit the Special Collections Research Center in Swem Library until November 15 to see the honorary diploma that William & Mary awarded to the Marquis de Lafayette on October 20, 1824. The diploma is on view along with letters, documents, and images relating to Lafayette’s service in Virginia during the American Revolution and his return visit to Virginia in 1824 on his national tour. In addition to its regular hours, Monday-Friday 10-5 pm, Special Collections will be open on Saturday-Sunday, 10-3 pm for exhibit viewing until November 10.
