Join us for a once-in-a-lifetime event as we welcome reenactors portraying the Marquis de Lafayette, Creek leader Chilly McIntosh, and Indian Agent John Crowell!
Begin your journey at the Visitors Center, where you can watch a short film about Fort Mitchell and view the detailed diorama depicting Lafayette’s historic visit. At 2:00 PM (ET), the grand parade will assemble at the Visitors Center and proceed to the Pavilion. We encourage attendees to don 1825-era period attire and march alongside members of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and Children of the American Revolution (C.A.R.), as well as Masons, artisans playing bagpipes, and
men and women on horseback escorting General Lafayette’s carriage. We also anticipate a special appearance by the Fort Moore Military Band.
At the Pavilion, distinguished guests will deliver formal greetings, and a proclamation will be read in honor of Lafayette’s visit. The SAR will present the colors and fire a musket volley in a stirring tribute.
Throughout the fort, experience the sights and sounds of early 19th-century life. Skilled artisans, including blacksmiths, tanners, woodworkers, and open-fire cooks, will offer live demonstrations. Creek Indian reenactors will showcase a traditional stickball game, providing insight into their rich cultural heritage. A historic cannon will be on display for photos—and if permitted, it will be fired.
For younger guests, we will have crafts, face painting, and engaging family-friendly activities. Refreshments will be available at the Tavern.
Don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity to witness history come to life!
