Meet George Washington’s adopted son and hear about his heroics during the American Revolution. Discover Lafayette’s lifelong passion for human rights that includes emancipation of the enslaved, women’s rights, and the support of Native Americans. Enjoy colonial music, sip Lafayette wines, and indulge in French-inspired bites while learning about the upcoming 2024-2025 bicentennial of Lafayette’s final return to the United States. Internationally acclaimed actor-interpreter Mark Schneider, of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, will present Lafayette during this exclusive occasion. A portion of the evening’s proceeds and wine purchases will benefit the American Friends of Lafayette and their efforts to commemorate the Lafayette Bicentennial.

The three bottles of the Williamsburg Winery’s Lafayette Bicentennial Wine Series will explore Lafayette’s inspiring life story. From the 19-year-old solider who volunteered in the Continental Army, to becoming the symbol of the Franco-American Alliance, to being “Guest of the Nation” in 1824-1825 – Lafayette’s legacy is complex, engaging, and relevant to today’s America. In addition to Lafayette, the wine series also honors his wife, Adrienne, with her own bottle commemorating her contributions to the United States.

Doors open at 6:30 PM. Event begins at 7:00 PM. Cocktail attire encouraged.
