The melody of the US National Anthem, originally published in London c.1780 as “The Anacreontic Song,” enjoyed frequent reuse for a wide variety of topical lyrics.  Well over 100 such parodies were published down through the decades, including several for Lafayette during his tour.  For example, see within this collection also “Brave Soldier of Fame,” “The Brave Lafayette,” and “Washington’s Favorite the Brave La Fayette.”
