On September 22nd, First Church will commemorate Lafayette’s 1824 stay in Dedham by presenting a play adapted by Geoff Tegnell from a 1909 short story “The Passing of Lafayette” by local writer Elinor Ramsay. This play will be staged in the auditorium of First Church Parish Hall, and will be prefaced by the reading of a diary entry recounting Lafayette’s whirlwind visit as witnessed by Village Register editor Herman Mann (1795-1851).
